OUR IMPACT: ECONOMY

Our successful model distributing more than 12,000 solar products to small business owners helps increase economic productivity within communities through affordable and clean energy. EcoEnergy’s model stimulates the local communities we work in and encourages entrepreneurism. Small businesses that are able to power fans or televisions attract and retain more customers. One of our most popular services are cell phone charging stations that allow local tea stall owners to charge phones and earn additional revenue.

EcoEnergy’s economic draw extends beyond the immediate community it works in. While solar enterprises in East Africa and India traditionally receive the most global funding, there is similarly a huge demand for financing off-grid solar enterprises in Pakistan. Moreover, EcoEnergy recognized an opportunity to combine basic banking services from financial institutions with the mobile-based energy EcoEnergy provides with its pay-as-you-go (PAYG) systems via mobile banking. EcoEnergy aims to partner with local companies that provide opportunities, intelligent software and tools to help businesses flourish and boost the local economy. Increasing opportunities in financing and banking, while also providing green technology to serve energy needs, is not only advantageous to the country itself, but also to the world.

EcoEnergy does not provide energy alone to communities that lack access. It increases accessibility to technology as well as opportunities to finance this technology over a period of time for those that can’t afford it. Through its model, EcoEnergy sets itself apart by focusing on everyone who is off-grid – schools, households, health clinics, farmers and large businesses as well as small businesses. EcoEnergy doesn’t just focus on manufacturing or wholesale distribution. It emphasises the in-depth relationship it builds with these remote businesses and household customers. The off-grid population EcoEnergy works with also has a great opportunity to engage the millions of children that can’t get access to education and study at home. Providing a source of sustainable electricity to these populations within their means greatly improves their quality of life and enables them to seek greater opportunities for their homes and businesses.
