OUR IMPACT: EDUCATION

For many children growing up in rural Pakistan, homework is put on hold in the evenings after the sun goes down. Due to lack of electrical infrastructure, most schools are underpowered while electrical supply is nonexistent or scarce at home. Oftentimes, the only available alternative are kerosene gas lamps that run a high risk of starting a fire if knocked over in addition to causing respiratory issues among children. Therefore, students are often unable to complete assignments and dedicate adequate time to school work. But ever since EcoEnergy came to Sindh, school children whose families purchased solar lamps can now continue their studies at home in safely lit environments.

Watch the story of Irfan, an aspiring doctor in the 9th grade, whose grades improved after his family received solar energy lamps.
