Our Communities

In Pakistan, the demand for energy is currently 25% higher than supply and is forecasted to increase 7% annually. Moreover, over 40% of villages are currently off the electricity grid, and the burden of this energy crisis falls unfairly on low-income communities.

EEF is currently working in Interior Sindh and Southern Punjab in Pakistan, due to the number of rural low-income communities that are off-grid in these areas. By providing these villages clean energy solutions, these communities will be able to expand their work productivity, develop new income generation opportunities, provide light for their children to study at night, and enhance security for these areas.

EEF’s target demographic is the “working poor” in these rural communities (those who earn less than $2 a day), who exhibit a high need for energy and have the resources to afford simple solar home solutions, such as lanterns.
